Commercial Irrigation Systems
Our commercial clients include bowling greens, golf courses, riding arenas, garden centres, nurseries, greenhouses and poly tunnels.
We offer the design and
installation of new irrigation systems plus alterations and
extensions to existing facilities.
We operate year round to accommodate various growing and playing seasons, spring start ups and autumn decommissions.
We also offer a prompt and efficient maintenance & repair service
to safeguard the quality of your greens and playing surfaces during
those important summer months.
Bowling Greens
Greens are generally watered using 4 large radius pop-up sprinklers located halfway down each side of the green. A ring of pipe surrounds the green and is connected back to the pump. Due to the high volume of water and pressure needed, these systems must be run from a high capacity pump and a water storage tank. After watering this tank is automatically refilled from the water mains.
Typically the system will be designed to operate early each morning when evaporation is minimal, ensuring that play can commence on time.
To minimize water waste, environmental controls can be added to the system. These can consist of a rain sensor or on more sophisticated systems a mini weather station can be used to monitor the evapo-transpiration of the green.
If necessary the water storage tank can also be supplied with rainwater from nearby buildings, reducing the operating costs of the system.
Indoor Arenas
Indoor arenas can either be watered using a grid of small output sprinklers mounted high up in the roof area, or by half circle sprinklers mounted around the perimeter edge of the arena.
Overhead systems are more suitable for connecting directly to the mains water supply, as they have moderate flow and pressure requirements. Installation however is complicated by the heights being worked at.
Perimeter sprinkler systems keep all of the pipework and sprinklers in an easily serviced position, but normally require a pumped supply, as each sprinkler has to throw the water a considerable distance.
Outdoor exercise areas
Outdoor areas are normally watered using sprinklers located around the perimeter. Sprinklers can either be completely buried underground, along with the supply pipe, and pop-up when necessary, or can be clipped to the perimeter railing.
